  1. 1. I am pretty comfortable with Parli-Pro. I thought the motion to postpone indefinitely was confusing because I am not sure what setting you would use it in.

    2. The 3 important motions video was beneficial.

    3. I think making sure the placards have cheat sheets always helps, then practicing it with new members, along with going over parli-pro at the first meeting should be beneficial.

    4. I think just make people feel comfortable if they mess up. Not out right correcting them, but just helping make sure they know how to say it correctly for next time. It is a gradual learning experience.

  2. 1. I feel like I'm pretty comfortable with parlipro. I've used it in many different types of organizations. I think the parts that I'm least comfortable with are the aspects of it that we don't use very often or have never really used in a meeting.
    2. I think the website has a plethora of information that's good to know and it's beneficial to have resources like these to look things up in case one of those weird things that doesn't happen very often.
    3. I agree that giving new members the cheat sheets is a good idea and possibly showing them videos like this or making our own videos. Visual learners might learn better if they see it.
    4. I agree you have to let people make mistakes and make them feel comfortable doing so. I also think that, like the video said, you can keep teaching the entire year. We can do activities and watch videos all year to create that teaching environment.

  3. 1. I am slowly becoming more comfortable with Parli-Pro! After observing it in the NRHH meetings last semester, I feel that I have a basic understanding of the different motions and their meanings. What I am least comfortable with with Parli-Pro would have to be the formal definitions of the motions, because I am only familiar with seeing them in action in the meetings. (Does that make sense?!) I feel I would know what to say but I wouldn't know why I'm saying it.

    2. It was interesting to read about all the different motions because, until now, I was quite unfamiliar with each one's significance. The first link listed was very beneficial to me.

    3. I think that providing cheat sheets to every member would be beneficial because it would allow them to understand the basics of Parli-Pro. I also like Lindsey's idea of making a video about Parli-Pro... We could put the link on our Orgsync for people to refer back to as needed.

    4. I think that encouraging the use of Parli-Pro more would enable our chapter to be more comfortable with the procedure and then they would be more likely to voice opinions, questions, and concerns. Also, we should stress that using Parli-Pro is a learning experience for everyone, it might decrease any anxiety that comes along with using this procedure.

  4. 1. I have become more comfortable with Parli-Pro over the past year. The part of Parli-Pro that I feel the least comfortable with is postpone indefinitely because I am unsure when/how we would use it and if we have used it in a meeting before.

    2. I found the Mastering the 3 Most Important Motions video beneficial and reading more about each motion. It was very helpful to have the videos after you read the information so you could relate what you read to the videos.

    3. I think having the Parli-Pro cheat sheets on the back of the name tags is still a great idea. In the first video, she mentioned that having an outside educator or someone that has more knowledge than you help teach would also help teach the procedures. Finally to keep reviewing it throughout the year and not just teach it one.

    4. Making sure people are comfortable with the procedure, even if they do make mistakes. If they do make mistakes, don't call them out right away, but instead confront the mistake in a different manner. Also to keep the reviewing/teaching the procedure throughout the year.

  5. 1) I use Parli-Pro almost every other day in a serious or joking manor.

    2) My best tip while learning is it takes time. You will not be an expert in one meeting or one year. Even some people I know have taken 3+ years to master it.

    3) Cheat sheet and I would like to make sure our members feel comfortable asking questions on how to say or do something.

    4) Keeping open communication and also making sure that if they are really confused about something that is going on to know that they can ask a respectable question at any time to help them learn.
